Alongside the work underwater I produce podcasts: recording, editing and delivery. It looks like a long way from filming, but it is the same craft. Either way the job is to find the story and leave out everything around it.
What I do
- Recording. On location or in a fixed setup, with equipment that stays out of the way. Multiple speakers on separate tracks, so there is still something to rescue in the edit when one person talks over another.
- Editing. Noise out, levels matched, pauses and stumbles removed. What is left is the conversation the way the listener thinks it went.
- Delivery. Ready to publish, in the file formats and loudness standards your platform asks for.
- Video alongside. If you want the session filmed for YouTube or social, that happens in the same sitting. It saves a second recording day.
A single episode or a series
Either works. For an ongoing series we settle a fixed shape first — intro, structure, finishing — so every episode sounds the same and you only have to think about the content. For a one-off or a pilot we keep it lighter.
