About me

I film underwater. It started as a diver who happened to carry a camera and turned into the work itself: wrecks in Dutch inland water, flooded mine shafts in Germany, recovery operations at sea.

Certification and depth

I am GUE certified for CCR2 and CCR Cave, and an instructor with PADI and SSI. My maximum working depth is one hundred metres; the deepest dive I have actually made is82 m.

With SSI I teach rebreather courses on the Halcyon Symbios, on location anywhere in the Netherlands. And what I have learned underwater, I write down: the rules of cave and wreck diving are explained here on the site.

That distinction is not hedging. What you are qualified for and where you have been are two different things, and a client planning a production is entitled to both numbers.

Why rebreathers

A closed circuit produces no bubbles. That is not a luxury but the precondition for filming animals that would otherwise leave, and for working inside a mine shaft or a cave without shaking sediment off the ceiling with every exhale and destroying your own visibility.

What I do

As a cameraman I work to commission: shooting days, full productions, documentaries. I produce podcasts, and I teach on the Halcyon Symbios. In my own time I document the Dutch dive sites I visit most often.
